Job description

Library Assistant

Part-Time Schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Saturday 10am-4pm (18hrs/week)

Brief Job Summary: Works under the supervision of the Children's Librarian, and plays an integral role in the library's youth services team, to successfully implement public services, policies, procedures and programs in accordance with the library's mission.

Responsibilities include: developing and presenting lesson plans to meet specific literacy needs of children such as story times, library education and summer reading programs. Monitors the condition of the children's department. Provides reference and reader's advisory services to all library users, with a focus on services to children, teens, parents and teachers.

Strong focus on children's programming and literature, customer service, technology experience and team work. Requires the application of elementary principles of library and information sciences. A complete job description is available upon request.

Minimum Requirements: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
