Teen lifeguards monitor the behavior of the attendants of a pool to ensure their safety. Your most important responsibility is to watch the swimming activity and rescue anyone who may slip underwater unintentionally and prevent them from drowning. You also enforce rules of the pool, which may include no running, no pushing others into the pool, and a limit on the number of people in the spa. Other job duties may include cleaning the pool of debris, manning the entrance desk, and locking up the pool gates. Teen lifeguard jobs are most common at public pools during the summer, but teens can work as lifeguards year-round at indoor pools and private pools.
