What is the 10-20 rule for lifeguards?

The 10-20 rule for lifeguards states that they should scan their assigned area every 10 seconds and actively monitor the water within 20 seconds to ensure quick response to emergencies. This practice helps maintain constant vigilance and improves safety at aquatic facilities. Lifeguards also rely on effective communication, rescue skills, and proper certification to perform their duties effectively.

What is the highest paid lifeguard?

The highest paid lifeguards typically earn salaries exceeding $20 an hour, with some senior or specialized lifeguards earning over $50,000 annually, especially in high-demand locations or private facilities. Factors such as experience, certifications, and the type of employer influence top salaries in this role.

Is 22 too old to be a lifeguard?

State lifeguard positions typically do not have an upper age limit, and being 22 is generally considered a suitable age for the role. Success depends on meeting certification requirements such as CPR and lifeguard training, as well as physical fitness and swimming skills.

Can you make a living off of being a lifeguard?

State lifeguards typically earn hourly wages that may not be sufficient for full-time living expenses, especially during the season they work. Many lifeguards supplement their income with additional jobs or work year-round in related roles, and advanced certifications or supervisory positions can increase earning potential. Overall, being a lifeguard alone is often not a primary source of full-time income.
