Job description

The Hockomock Area YMCA's Teen Center in North Attleboro is hiring a Teen Center Monitor. The position is responsible for the direct supervision of Teen Center members, ages 10-17, after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:30-6 pm. This position assists in creating and implementing Teen Center programs and general site maintenance.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises daily activities to ensure the safety of all participants
  • Actively participate in activities, projects and events
  • Serves as a mentor, helping with homework and projects, and is available to talk and listen as needed
  • Encourages teens to work with and meet others
  • Addresses teens by names
  • Regularly informs parents/guardians of the positive actions and efforts of their teen
  • Enforces the rules and policies while being firm but fair
  • Educates teens about appropriate boundaries and enforces the boundaries
  • Follows through with appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior by finding teachable moments
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of Teen Center activities and events, both on-site and off-site
  • In conjunction with maintenance staff, maintains facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all, including proper maintenance, storage organization, security, inventory, cleanliness, and care of all assigned equipment
  • Attends meetings with directors and colleagues in order to problem solve, discuss issues of concerns
