Job description

Position Overview
  • Start Date: May 5, 2026
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Shift: Variable shifts based on department needs
  • Employment Type: Contract (W2)

Role Summary

The Surgical Technologist functions as a key member of the operating room team, working in the scrub role under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse. This position ensures a safe and efficient surgical environment while supporting a wide range of procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
  • Assemble case carts according to surgeon preference cards
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures
  • Coordinate with sterile processing and operating room staff for instrumentation and supplies
  • Assist in managing surgical workflow, including turnover and scheduling coordination
  • Serve as a resource for supply and instrumentation procurement
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and support teams to ensure seamless operations

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or equivalent military program)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Active state license required
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques
  • Ability to work flexible, variable shifts and participate in holiday coverage

Facility Details
  • Mid-sized hospital (50–149 beds)
  • Trauma Level III facility
  • Utilizes Epic for clinical documentation

Additional Information
  • Guaranteed full-time hours each week
  • On-call and callback expectations apply per facility guidelines
  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the contract based on census or operational needs
  • Candidates must reside at least 90 miles from the facility to be eligible
