Job description

Job Title: Technical Writer Location: Carmel, IN (Hybrid - 3 days onsite) Contract Industry: Energy - NO C2C at this time Job Description The Technical Writer will support the ongoing maintenance and revision of Operating Procedures within a highly regulated environment. The documentation process is already in place; this person will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) at various stages to revise and update procedures, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple deadlines, and experience working in regulated industries where compliance standards are critical (e.g.utilities, pharma, aerospace). The writer will collaborate regularly with Operations leadership and Control Center staff to ensure documentation aligns with organizational and regulatory needs. Responsibilities
  • Revise and maintain operational procedures and manage full document lifecycle
  • Collaborate with SMEs for content development, review, and approval
  • Interpret complex technical information into clear, concise documentation
  • Coordinate across departments to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally across varied audiences
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure documentation adheres to regulatory and quality standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, communications, English, or related field
  • (or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Demonstrated experience writing technical reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience in regulated industries with documentation standards
  • Familiarity with Adobe FrameMaker or similar writing tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Document Management Systems, Human Performance Improvement (HPI), and Project Management
  • Procedure Professionals Association (PPA) procedure writer certification
  • Prior experience in the energy industry
  • Understanding of NERC and FERC regulatory compliance requirements
