Job description

The Manager STAT Program will provide clinical management of the OR STAT Program as well as coordination of external visiting surgical technologist schools' clinical trainee rotations on campus. In addition, this position supervises STAT Program Assistant and trainees. Work functions include completion of probational evaluations, mentoring practice accountability through clinical practice auditing, staff/trainee coaching, and performance management progressive discipline/corrective action planning. This position provides didactic and clinical instruction for students learning how to perform the surgical technologist room in surgical and procedural areas. This manager serves as in-house expert resource for staff engaging in career advancement to obtain associate degrees which is preferred in some levels of the refreshed surgical technologist career ladder.
Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or a graduate of an educational program in Surgical Technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
2. Current Surgical Technologist Certification through one of the following boards:
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA);
National Center for Competencies Testing (NCCT); or
American Allied Health Association (AAHA);
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years documented experience, in OR scrub role or as a clinical instructor in Surgical Technology, or a combination of both, within the past seven (7) years.

1. Clinical management of the OR STAT program
2. Coordinates external visiting surgical technologist schools' clinical trainee rotations on campus.
3. Manages the appropriate cost center(s) including the request and management of budget resources/capital to support educational mission.
4. Responsible for recruitment and retention of trainees in program.
5. Coordinates clinical rotations of all STAT and visiting non-STAT trainees considering best training opportunities and mentor matching.
6. Provides Didactic and clinical instruction in Surgical Technology.
7. Ensures curriculum meets requirements for successful certification of trainees and advancement to regional associate degree programs.
8. Serves as in-house expert for Surgical Technologist national scope of practice.
9. Guides staff in selection of available formal education choices for associate degrees.
10. Supervises STAT Program Assistant and Trainees.
11. Evaluates student performance and program curriculum.
12. Performs clinical competencies with students and practice monitoring of OR staff to ensure compliance with national standards and organizational policies.
13. Maintains student records as mandated by federal and state statues.
14. Participates in professional development and provision of surgical technologist direct patient care to maintain professional standards
