Job description

Job Title:  Director of Technology

Position Start Date:  September 2026

Description:  Regional School Unit 18 (RSU 18) services the Maine towns of Belgrade, China, Oakland, Rome and Sidney. Our Mission is to "Engage Learners, Strengthen Communities, and to Create Global Leaders".  We are looking for the right person to provide leadership and direction for our Technology Department. The Director of Technology provides strategic leadership, planning, and management for all instructional and administrative technology systems across the district, supporting a user base of over 3,000 students and staff across Linux, Windows, and macOS environments. This position ensures reliable, secure, and equitable access to technology across a virtualized, cloud-connected infrastructure (including AWS and Cloudflare) and 1:1 device program (iPads and MacBooks), and works closely with the Superintendent and building administrators to align technology initiatives with district goals. The Director also serves as a mentor and technical backstop for district technology staff, providing guidance and hands-on support when issues exceed staff's ability to resolve independently.


Qualifications:        

  • Demonstrated experience managing network infrastructure, virtual environments, storage arrays, cybersecurity, and enterprise software systems.
  • Supervisory or budget management experience.
  • Must pass Maine Department of Education background check requirements, including fingerprinting under the Maine Criminal History Record Check.
