Technology Content information

What is a technology content professional?

Technology Content professionals are individuals who create, manage, and optimize content related to technology topics. They may write articles, produce videos, or develop technical documentation that explains complex tech concepts in an accessible way. Their primary goal is to educate, inform, and engage audiences about technology products, trends, and innovations. These professionals often work closely with subject matter experts, editors, and marketing teams to ensure accuracy and relevance. Technology Content roles can include content writers, editors, strategists, and multimedia producers.

How does a technology content specialist typically collaborate with technical teams to ensure accuracy in content?

A Technology Content Specialist often works closely with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather detailed information and verify technical details. This collaboration may involve attending product meetings, conducting interviews, and reviewing technical documentation to clarify complex concepts. Regular feedback loops and content review sessions help ensure that published materials are both accurate and accessible to the target audience. Building strong relationships with technical teams is essential for staying updated on new features or changes and producing high-quality content.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technology content writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technology Content Writer, you need strong writing and research skills, a solid understanding of technology concepts, and typically a degree in communications, journalism, or a technical field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and analytics platforms is often required. Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content are valuable soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate, accessible, and impactful technology communications for target audiences.

Job description

This position is remote; however, if you reside near our offices in Menomonee Falls, WI, or New York City, NY, we request that you work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

About the Role
In this role, you will lead the execution and prioritization of defined workstreams that shape how Kohl’s designs, evolves, and scales marketing capabilities across data, workflows, content, decisioning, personalization, measurement, AI, and innovation.

You will translate business needs into structured requirements, research insights, recommendations, and validation plans that improve marketing operations at scale. Within your assigned domain, you will help identify and advance opportunities for AI enablement, automation, modernization, and transformation.

Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will bring strategic thinking, curiosity, and initiative to capability initiatives that strengthen agility, efficiency, and business value across the marketing ecosystem.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead defined work streams within assigned capability domains; partner with cross- functional teams to uncover current-state challenges and shape future-state capability recommendations.

  • Translate stakeholder discovery into clear business requirements by documenting current-state processes, pain points, business rules, dependencies, user needs, capability requirements, and decision points.

  • Identify process, technology, workflow, automation, innovation, and operating-model improvement opportunities; develop practical recommendations that improve scalability, efficiency, speed, and marketing effectiveness.

  • Research platforms, vendors, emerging capabilities, and market trends; synthesize findings into actionable recommendations that inform capability design, tool evaluation, and enterprise marketing goals.

  • Support capability modernization, transformation, AI, and automation efforts by documenting current-state limitations, defining pilot opportunities, shaping future-state recommendations, and establishing evaluation criteria.

  • Help define success criteria, measurement needs, validation requirements, and outcome assessments for capability initiatives, incl. adoption, efficiency gains & value realization.

  • Independently coordinate small- to medium-scale projects, maintaining project schedules, aligning cross-functional milestones, communicating with stakeholders, and leveraging subject matter experts as needed.

  • Proactively identify project risks, issues, and dependencies; recommend alternative or strategic solutions to keep work moving forward.

  • Work through ambiguous problems by clarifying goals, identifying unknowns, structuring next steps, and aligning stakeholders on decisions.

  • Contribute across adjacent capability areas, cross-domain initiatives, and evolving MTSCI priorities as business needs change.

  • Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

What Skills You Have
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience in marketing technology, marketing automation, digital marketing operations, CRM, customer data, digital strategy, analytics, workflow/content operations, media technology, or capability design.

  • Experience with marketing technology platforms or related enterprise tools, such as CRM, customer data platforms, marketing automation or multi-channel marketing hubs, decisioning engines, CMS, DAM, work management tools, analytics platforms, or media technology tools.

  • Familiarity with IT delivery and development methodologies, such as Agile, Kanban, SAFe, or similar frameworks, with the ability to support process improvement initiatives.

Preferred

  • Exposure to emerging marketing technologies, automation tools, innovation initiatives, experimentation, analytics, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions within enterprise or marketing environments.

  • Familiarity with customer engagement technology, content/process modernization, and use cases that improve marketing scale, speed, personalization, or efficiency.

  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, loyalty, lifecycle marketing, omnichannel marketing, creative operations, or high-volume content environments.
