DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Members of the Baseball Technology Team at the Boston Red Sox are focused on collecting and delivering high-quality video and data for the Baseball Operations staff. The data and video we collect and deliver are integral parts of the decision-making process, are directly integrated in the workflows of several key departments within Baseball Operations, and provide an efficient, consistent, and accessible experience when interacting with our internal data sources and applications.
POSITION OVERVIEW:The Affiliate Video & Technology Associate will be a member of the Baseball Technology team embedded in the Player Development department and is responsible for managing video and data collection at their assigned affiliate. The position requires operating multiple technologies including BATS, Trackman, high frame rate cameras, Hawkeye, Blast, and Kinatrax daily. The position oversees the accurate collection and delivery of video and data in a fast-paced environment while collaborating closely with the coaching staff, coordinators, and members of the Player Development, Baseball Systems, and Analytics departments. The position contributes to a cutting-edge development environment while gaining exposure to multiple facets of Player Development, as well as other baseball operations departments through our curriculum and project-based Associate development program. Candidates must be available to work all home and away games throughout the duration of the season (and playoffs, if applicable), including nights, weekends, and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect game and non-game video by setting up multiple cameras and using BATS video software.
  • Organize and distribute game video and performance reports to players and staff.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of advance scouting materials, working closely with the affiliate staff to optimize game preparation.
  • Operate and maintain various technologies used at affiliates such as Blast, Rapsodo, Trackman, Hawkeye, Kinatrax, and high frame rate cameras.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any issues with data, video, or technology at our affiliates.
  • Travel with the team and manage the transportation of necessary technology.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated ability to operate baseball technology is a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate video technology (BATS, Synergy, Edgertronic) is a plus, but not required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with SQL, R, Python is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with video editing software is a plus, but not required.
