Job description

Summary of the Position

The Automotive Technician Training Manager (ATTM) is responsible for the continuous training and development of current and new Automotive Technicians within the company. This role will report to the Director of Retail Operations, while collaborating with various levels of management, and is responsible for management of Automotive Technicians training activities, identifying training opportunities and ensuring consistency in technical excellence companywide.

The ATTM will direct and conduct training and manage technical aspects of Automotive Technician positions through multiple methods, including classroom instruction, workshops, and on-site store visits. This role plays a key part in maintaining company standards, promoting safety, and ensuring technicians are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision of all Automotive Technicians employed by the Company.
  • Conduct training programs for new hires and existing technicians, focusing on diagnostic, repair, and maintenance procedures.
  • Partner with Zone Managers and Training Managers to assess store performance and identify technician training needs.
  • Develop, update, and deliver training materials aligned with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and ASE best practices.
  • Evaluate technician performance during and after training, providing constructive feedback and additional coaching as needed.
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations with regard to the hiring, termination, advancement, and promotions of the Company Automotive Technicians.
  • Ensure all training supports compliance with company policies, safety standards, and state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of training completion, certifications, and technician progress.
  • Assist in developing standardized repair and diagnostic procedures across all service locations.
  • Stay current on industry developments, new vehicle technologies, and ASE certification updates.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and teamwork.
  • Monitor progress of LMS system engagement to cultivate a continuous learning environment.
  • Travel to store locations to provide coverage and support on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Experience/Education/Other Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of Automotive Repair experience.
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Automotive Repair preferred.
  • ASE certifications Required. Master Certification Preferred.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with technicians, store staff, Corporate Management.
  • Experience creating and implementing technical training Programs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. drivers' license, have had a drivers' license for at least 3 years, and be insurable through our insurance company
  • Must possess and maintain a valid PA Inspection and Emissions licenses and Mobile Refrigeration Certification (609c)
  • Must stay current on and comply with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regulations regarding inspections and emissions testing.
  • Ability to travel to various store locations as needed.
  • Must have own tools and be able to demonstrate safe and effective use during training sessions.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs, bend, stoop, and work in various environmental conditions. (on occasion weight may exceed 50 lbs.)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; capable of working independently.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor and inspire technicians to achieve a high level of performance.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
