We work closely with government partners, industry leaders, and international stakeholders to build strategic solutions for today's evolving security environment.
Program Overview
HDUSA is seeking motivated and high-performing undergraduate and graduate students for a 14-week paid Fall Internship. This program provides hands-on exposure to the defense industry, U.S. government engagement, and policy analysis, while giving interns the opportunity to interact with internal senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Interns will focus on government relations, public relations, and strategic engagements. Candidates can expect to conduct meaningful work within the defense industry supporting our Land Systems, Shipbuilding, Missiles, and Munitions business units. This is an on-site role in our Rosslyn, VA office and both part-time and full-time opportunities are available. Work schedules and in-office requirements will be determined on an individual basis but Interns can expect a minimum of 10-15 hours per week for part-time roles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track relevant legislation, NDAA provisions, appropriations developments, and agency activities affecting HDUSA's land systems, shipbuilding, missiles, and munitions business lines.
  • Draft policy briefs, issue summaries, congressional correspondence, and internal reports to support Government Relations and Business Development priorities.
  • Support preparation for Hill meetings, agency engagements, and industry events; provide readouts and follow-up materials.
  • Assist with internal coordination across GR, BD. Strategy, and Senior Leadership.
  • Develop and present a capstone "final" project to senior company leadership at the conclusion of the program.
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and maintaining a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Strong written, analytical, and research skills.
  • Ability to track and synthesize fast-moving legislative and policy developments.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An interest in U.S. defense policy, government affairs, or national security.

  • To comply with U.S. Government defense technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or otherwise eligible to access export-controlled technical data.
