Job: Civil Site Engineer Intern
Location: Lenexa, KS and Austin, TX

The Civil Engineer (Site Development) Intern is responsible for assisting in the development of engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports under supervision, while conducting research and field investigations to support project needs. This role provides design analysis and documentation support to project engineers, ensuring all work complies with established engineering standards and specific project requirements.
What You'll Do:
  • Assist in preparing engineering drawings, design layouts, and construction documents.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations for grading, drainage, and utilities.
  • Conduct field investigations, collect measurements, and document site conditions.
  • Prepare technical reports and design documentation for review.
  • Apply established engineering standards, guidelines, and project requirements.
  • Maintain and organize project files, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinates assigned tasks with team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
  • Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering or other related field from accredited program.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Excel software is preferred
  • Experience with transportation and bridge related projects or internships is preferred.
  • 2.7 GPA strongly preferred
  • Finished at least two years of school
  • Prior Internship is and/or related experience is a plus
  • Involved in campus, community, and other volunteer activities and/ or organization
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk around the office for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
Travel:
  • Ability to travel as needed based on job level and expertise for project site & field visits, conferences, training, and professional outings.
  • Occasional day trips or overnight travel may be required, including other GBA offices.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record under the company's insurance carrier requirements to operate or rent vehicles for business purposes.
