Job Story

The Campus Activities Intern plays a vital role in enhancing the student experience through the development and facilitation of engaging campus programs. This role fosters campus spirit, promotes student involvement, and assists professional staff with the day-to-day operations of Student Engagement & Belonging. As a result of the work performed while in this role, the Campus Activities Intern will enhance skills in communication planning, organization, leadership, and teamwork. The intern will collaborate with staff, student organizations, and campus partners to create high impact and memorable experiences.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
  1. Assist in the conceptualization, planning, and execution of campus-wide events, initiatives, and workshops. Will coordinate logistics including room reservations, equipment requests, and catering.
  2. Co-lead campus tradition initiatives related to Shocktoberfest including Shocker Royalty, Spirit Competition, and/or individual event support.
  3. Coordinate marketing and outreach promotional initiatives such as poster distribution, host information tables, and present to campus organizations to increase visibility and participation in campus activities.
  4. Provide on-site support during campus events, including setup, teardown, crowd management, and addressing student inquiries.
  5. Assist with inventory of event supplies, data entry related to event attendance, and tracking of program related expenses.
  6. Meet for regular 1-on-1 meetings with their direct supervisor to measure progress on projects and tasks.
  7. Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
Required Education

High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
  • Must maintain good academic standing.
  • Must be a student at Wichita State University and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Prior leadership experience in student organizations or event planning is preferred.

Additional Information

Position will begin in August 2026 and work Monday through Friday, with specific hours and schedule according to needs and availability.

Reports to: The Campus Activities Intern is under the direct supervision of the Director of Activities & Engagement for Student Engagement & Belonging.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
