Job description

T&M is seeking a Technical Specialist to support our New Jersey Community and Land Development Market. This role serves as a hands‑on technical practitioner, providing recommended technical approaches for municipal and public infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on QA/QC oversight and review.

The Technical Specialist will take a leadership role in guiding and empowering project teams to consistently deliver high‑quality work that meets rigorous standards for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction. In addition, this individual will act as a regional technical resource, responsible for developing and enforcing QA/QC standards and procedures, reviewing engineering deliverables, supporting internal technical training initiatives, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts across the Northeast Region.

As a technical specialist, you will have key responsibilities in the following: 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC standards and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all project deliverables.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of design plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to confirm alignment with company standards, client expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff, supporting knowledge sharing and professional development across the team.
  • Collaborate with project managers and design teams during key project phases to proactively identify and resolve technical issues by providing technical expertise
  • Participate in the development and delivery of internal technical training programs to promote best practices and elevate overall technical performance.
  • Identify recurring quality concerns or inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement efforts in tools, workflows, and design practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required); PE license required
  • 12+ years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on municipal engineering and public sector projects
  • Strong understanding of local and regional regulatory requirements
  • High level of technical proficiency & strong background in development of design drawings and technical specifications for civil engineering projects, as well as experience in civil engineering construction phase service.
  • Proven experience conducting technical QA/QC reviews.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and systematic in approach.
  • Ability to mentor others and communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $130,000 - $160,000. The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
