Maintenance Manager Needed- Urbana, IL

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team in a blow molding manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all production equipment, machinery, facility systems, and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all plant maintenance activities, including mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Lead, train, and develop a team of maintenance technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Lead, train, and develop the maintenance team, including technicians, electricians, and maintenance personnel.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot blow molding, auxiliary, and downstream equipment (e.g., Uniloy, Rocheleau, Bekum, or similar).
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide hands‑on troubleshooting and technical support when needed.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support process improvements and capital projects.
  • Work with vendors and contractors regarding equipment repairs, installations, services, and projects.
  • Assist with the installation, startup, modification, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, and PM schedules through the CMMS system.
  • Establish maintenance KPIs and provide regular reporting to plant leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs while improving equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and root‑cause analysis initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment; blow molding or plastics manufacturing environment experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLC Controls (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, and other industrial equipment.
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance issues in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and team management skills.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Automation systems.
  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with PLC programming and controls troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets and outside contractors.
  • Experience in plastics, blow molding, injection molding, packaging, automotive, or other high‑volume manufacturing environments.
  • Industrial electrical or mechanical certifications are a plus.
