Technical Systems Manager Jobs in Washington (NOW HIRING)

The Retail Systems Manager is responsible for the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of TPSS Co-op’s retail technology and operational data systems. The position oversees the POS function, our online store and Provisions program, supports staff technology needs, develops useful reports and data tools, and helps ensure that the TPSS’s technology infrastructure is prepared for future growth.

• Maintain and support TPSS's retail technology ecosystem, including the POS system, online store, Provisions platform, inventory technology, payment systems, networks, computers, printers, and other business-critical technology.
• Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and vendor support.
• Support quarterly inventory processes by ensuring inventory technology, systems, equipment, and data are prepared and functioning effectively.
• Plan and implement technology improvements that support current operations and future expansion.
• Maintain appropriate cybersecurity, access-control, backup, and emergency-recovery practices.

• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data tools that support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Help ensure the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of sales, product, inventory, membership, and other operational data.
• Develop and maintain reporting on online store and Provisions program performance, including sales, transactions, product trends, customer activity, and other key operational metrics.
• Develop reports and tools that support inventory accuracy, purchasing, merchandising, and operational decision-making.
• Partner with managers to identify reporting needs and translate data into clear, useful information.
• Automate recurring reports and data processes where practical.

• Supervise, train, and support the POS Coordinator.
• Establish priorities and expectations for POS database accuracy, pricing, product records, inventory reporting, and related work.
• Ensure that POS records, shelf tags, and advertised prices remain accurate and aligned.
• Coordinate with buyers, receivers, front-end, Finance, and other staff to address no-scans, pricing discrepancies, inventory issues, and reporting needs.
• Ensure the POS Coordinator has the training, tools, and guidance needed to meet changing operational requirements.

• Plan, prioritize, track, and complete technology and data projects.
• Maintain clear documentation of projects, systems, vendors, procedures, and outstanding work.
• Manage technology vendors, contracts, service issues, and implementation projects.
• Communicate project status, risks, delays, and recommendations clearly to leadership.

• Provide or coordinate timely technical support for staff.
• Develop practical instructions, procedures, and training materials.
• Train staff on relevant technology, reporting tools, data practices, and system changes.
• Promote consistent and effective use of technology throughout the organization.

• Experience supporting technology systems in a retail, grocery, nonprofit, hospitality, or similarly operational environment.
• Experience with POS, inventory, payment, or other transaction-based systems.
• Experience developing reports, dashboards, or other repeatable data processes.
• Strong spreadsheet and data-management skills.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and user-access issues.
• Experience supervising, training, or coordinating the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to organize projects, set priorities, track progress, and meet deadlines.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical and data concepts to nontechnical staff.

• Experience with SQL, APIs, scripting, reporting tools, or workflow automation.
• Experience with Catapult/ECRS or another grocery or retail POS platform.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, PCI compliance, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools responsibly.
• Grocery, natural-food, or cooperative experience.

This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule based on operational needs. Regular on-site availability is required, with some flexibility in start and end times.

The position requires some evening and weekend work for system maintenance, upgrades, inventory, special projects, or other operational needs.

The Retail Systems Manager must also be available on-call to respond to urgent technology issues that materially affect store operations. On-call responsibilities are generally limited to critical issues that cannot reasonably wait until the next scheduled work period.

• Primarily office-based with regular work throughout the store, including sales floor, offices, receiving areas, and equipment rooms.
• Frequently uses computers and other technology for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and move technology equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• May occasionally use ladders, crouch, kneel, or work under counters or desks to install or maintain equipment.
• Requires the ability to respond calmly and effectively to technology issues in a fast-paced retail environment.

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $65,000–$70,000, depending on qualifications and experience. This position reports to the General Manager.
