We are looking for a Junior Linux Engineer to join our Cloud services team . This role is ideal for someone with foundational knowledge in Linux, Docker, and Ansible-level concepts. Someone who is eager to grow and gain real hands-on experience in system administration and production operations.

Partner with the best

You will be responsible for monitoring system health, identifying incidents, escalating issues, and performing routine operational tasks. You will work closely with senior engineers to resolve problems and continuously improve system reliability.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing monitoring shifts to ensure system availability and performance.

  • Identifying incidents, perform initial troubleshooting, and elevate according to procedures.

  • Document incidents, steps taken, and outcomes clearly.

  • Assisting in maintaining and improving monitoring tools like Grafana and GroundCover/DataDog and dashboards.

  • Following predefined runbooks and procedures to ensure consistent handling of events.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree

  • Have foundational knowledge of Linux administration (file systems, permissions, processes, networking basics).

  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with Docker/K8S (running containers/pods, basic images, logs, and troubleshooting).

  • Show basic understanding of Ansible language concepts (registers, memory layouts, low-level operations).

  • Have familiarity with command-line tools, SSH, and common system utilities.

  • Be available for on call out of hours in an existing on-call rotation

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $65,700 - $118,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
