Hurco Companies, Inc. is seeking a technically-minded CNC Machinist or Applications Specialist to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Indianapolis.

This is not a software development role. We are looking for someone with strong CNC machining experience who enjoys troubleshooting, testing new technology, and helping customers and internal teams maximize machine performance.

As a Software Support Engineer, you will serve as the machining expert for Hurco's CNC control software and machine functionality. You will work closely with our service, sales, and engineering teams to test software enhancements, validate machining applications, troubleshoot customer issues, and provide technical support and training.

What You'll Do

  • Test CNC control software and machine functionality in real-world machining applications
  • Validate software performance and application conformance on mills and lathes
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and control-related issues for customers and internal teams
  • Conduct time studies and application testing to improve machine performance and customer productivity
  • Provide technical support to service technicians, sales personnel, and engineering teams
  • Deliver customer training on machine operation, programming, and best practices
  • Document and communicate issues, test results, and recommended solutions
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites to provide applications support and training

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on CNC machining, programming, or applications experience
  • Strong experience with 3-axis and 5-axis milling and/or multi-axis turning
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, setup, tooling, workholding, and machining processes
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to customers and cross-functional teams
  • Technical degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Hurco CNC controls
  • Applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or CNC training experience
  • Experience supporting customers or field service teams

If you're the type of machinist who enjoys figuring out why something works, testing new technology, and helping others succeed with CNC equipment, we'd love to hear from you.
