Job description

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Technical Sales Associate is to manage bid lists, secure plans and specifications, generate take-offs and project estimates, provide technical sales support for both the Outside Sales team and contractors, and manage projects to ensure profit targets are achieved.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Obtain and review project plans and specifications to determine the specific products and services to be included in a binding estimate per established guidelines
Obtain special quotations from manufacturers, as required, while maintaining competitive pricing levels and maximizing gross margins
Coordinate prior approval requests with the engineering services department
Populate job tracking systems with pertinent information, including basis of design information, quote values, etc.
Prepare complete and accurate engineering submittals for products being ordered
Answer application and technical questions, as well as general customer service inquiries, from mechanical contractors
Prepare and generate orders to manufacturers for products associated with awarded projects
Manage logistics to ensure product arrives at the job site as required
Maintain proper margin levels and job accuracy to ensure projects are billed correctly
Partner with the Outside Sales team and keep them informed regarding product availability, shipping schedules, and overall job status
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Work cooperatively with others
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance and availability

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
Commercial HVAC project management experience preferred
Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to learn job-specific software programs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Travel Requirement:

5% travel to branches and other operating companies, requiring some overnight stays; travel to industry-related conferences and training may require extended stays
