Job description

The Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (Associate CMIO) serves as a physician informatics leader who partners with the Chief Medical Information Officer, operational leaders, and Information Technology Services to advance the effective use of clinical information systems across the organization. This role supports the design, optimization, implementation, and adoption of digital tools that improve patient care, clinician experience, quality outcomes, and regulatory performance. The Associate CMIO serves as a liaison between clinicians and technology teams, translating clinical workflow needs into practical system solutions and helping drive change management, governance participation, provider engagement, and performance improvement efforts.

Experience: 10 years recent medical practice, demonstrated experience in medical informatics and EMR systems; 5 years of leadership experience involving clinical informatics, healthcare technology, quality improvement, or physician leadership.

Education: MD

Licensure/Certification: Licensed Physician (LA or MS)

Clinical Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partners with the CMIO and clinical leaders to support advisory groups that provide physician and clinician input into the design, optimization, and governance of clinical information systems.
  • Facilitates collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, ancillary departments, and operational leaders to align technology solutions with clinical and business needs.
  • Engages frontline clinicians and staff to gather feedback, identify workflow challenges, and promote adoption of clinical systems and digital tools.
  • Builds trusted relationships with physicians and other care team members to understand informatics needs and serve as an advocate for practical, provider-centered solutions.
  • Responsive to users needs, including training, to assure widespread acceptance and provider use of the clinical systems.
  • Serves as member of necessary committees and councils

ย Medical Informatics

  • Reviews medical informatics trends, experiences and approaches, develops technical and application implementation strategies and assists in the development of strategic plans for clinical information systems.
  • Works in concert with Information Technology Services (ITS) to design and implement systems supporting patient care and research activities.

ย  ย Patient Care

  • Leads design of clinical pathway models with physician, nursing and administrative leadership, and will assist in modification of these models to gain maximum efficacy and support for patient care and research protocols.
  • Leads development and deployment of solutions that cluster information in disease and episodic categories for benchmarking, clinical severity, and variance analysis. Designs and evaluates collection of data for clinical purposes, including tracking and interpretation of outcomes.
  • Participates in clinical activities by: Provides patient care in appropriate clinical setting. Reviews patient assessments and management plans.ย  ย Has active medical practice in area of specialty.
