They coordinate cross-functional teams, set project goals, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure that technical solutions align with business objectives. Their role often involves risk management, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving to keep projects on track. Technical Project Program Managers often act as a bridge between engineering, product, design, and business teams. They facilitate communication by organizing regular sync meetings, tracking progress, and clarifying project requirements. This ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on goals, timelines, and deliverables. Successful collaboration relies on strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical details for non-technical teams while managing dependencies and addressing potential roadblocks promptly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technical project program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Project Program Manager, you need strong project management skills, technical acumen, and experience with methodologies like Agile or Waterfall, often supported by a relevant degree and certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master. Job description

About the Role

This is a career-defining opportunity to play a crucial role in a hyper-scale AI company that is transforming the future of autonomous systems, energy, and the built environment.

As a Technical Engineering Program Manager at PassiveLogic, you will support engineering teams by creating and maintaining the roadmaps for the products they build. You will provide guidance on initiatives and priorities, balancing long-term goals and near-term product releases.

What youโ€™ll do
  • Help engineering teams move forward when complexity slows progress: Leverage your technical knowledge to clear roadblocks and fill knowledge gaps in the teams you support, ensuring that the products you are responsible for provide value to customers and are released on schedule. Approach problemโ€‘solving with a bias for action and a dataโ€‘driven methodology, making sound decisions even in imperfect situations.
  • Lead Product Strategy and Engineering Execution: Define and implement product roadmaps, guiding engineering teams through structured work streams to meet development goals. Make strategic decisions with a focus on longโ€‘term success and maintaining accountability to the bigger picture.
  • Drive Product Roadmaps with a Focus on Exceptional User Experience: Leverage your passion for user experience design to shape product roadmaps to create innovative, userโ€‘centric solutions, redefining autonomy in the built environment, while balancing design excellence and timely delivery.
  • Support Design and Validate Fidelity: We start every engineering effort with design; support UI/UX and engineering teams to deliver clearly documented product designs. Validate fidelity to the design in the products the team creates.
  • Give teams the visibility they need to make good decisions: Clearly communicate plans, progress, goals, and roadblocks to stakeholders, producing reporting artifacts that enable sound decisionโ€‘making.
  • Innovate with Emerging Technologies: Be a goโ€‘to expert on the latest product trends in software tools and evaluate new technology capabilities we can leverage.
What youโ€™ll bring
  • Proven experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in project, product, or program management.
    • A technical/engineering background, including a BS/MS/PhD or related degree in a deeply technical area (excluding programming/software bootcamps).
    • Experience using multiple project and program management techniques and understanding when to apply which methodology (waterfall, agile, Kanban, etc).
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: You excel at articulating the "what" and "why" behind design decisions, ensuring team members grasp both highโ€‘level concepts and implementation details. With a keen ability to communicate in nuance, you recognize that stated needs and actual needs may differ, allowing you to communicate with clarity, precision, and deep understanding.
  • Organized and strategic: Skilled in creating project roadmaps, managing timelines, and ensuring deliverables meet both technical and user expectations.
  • Collaborative mindset: Work closely with UI/UX, front end, back end, sales, and customer success teams to define work streams that align with customer releases. You will work hand in glove with the project managers to ensure the work plan supports the technical road map.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a fastโ€‘paced startup environment, eager to learn, iterate, and innovate.
  • Problem solving: You own this role. When issues arise, be the empowered force that solves them, rollingโ€‘up.
You should have
  • Experience shipping product: Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver products in a complex team environment.
  • Strong project management skills: Proven expertise in aligning project execution with business goals, ensuring efficient operations and strategic impact.
  • Documentation and user stories experience: A genuine passion for documentation combined with the skill to write actionable, clear, and concise user stories and test cases, ensuring teams have the resources they need for successful execution.
  • Leadership abilities and aspirations: You bring a highโ€‘energy, outgoing personality to leadership, driven by a passion for sharing knowledge, enhancing team skills, and empowering others to succeed. Committed to establishing yourself as an innovative leader and product champion, you are eager to shape and drive an industryโ€‘disrupting product ecosystem.
  • Commitment to continual selfโ€‘investment in product development: A track record of staying up to date with emerging trends in product development and engineering management, demonstrating a commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Alignment with Leadership: Ability to stay closely aligned with leadership (including the CEO) throughout the development process to ensure product vision and goals are met.
  • Passion for Design and Sustainability: Strong passion for humanโ€‘centered design, sustainability, and green building, integrating these values into product development and decisionโ€‘making.
