They coordinate cross-functional teams, set project goals, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure that technical solutions align with business objectives. Their role often involves risk management, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving to keep projects on track. Unlike traditional project managers, they typically possess strong technical backgrounds and work closely with engineering, IT, or development teams. Their expertise helps bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring project success.

How does a technical project program manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project lifecycle?

Technical Project Program Managers often act as a bridge between engineering, product, design, and business teams. They facilitate communication by organizing regular sync meetings, tracking progress, and clarifying project requirements. This ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on goals, timelines, and deliverables. Successful collaboration relies on strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical details for non-technical teams while managing dependencies and addressing potential roadblocks promptly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technical project program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Project Program Manager, you need strong project management skills, technical acumen, and experience with methodologies like Agile or Waterfall, often supported by a relevant degree and certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master. Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project) and enterprise systems is typically required. Job description

About WarehouseOS

WarehouseOS is the warehouse management system fulfillment teams run their day on. It's the software floor staff hold in their hands for an entire shift, and what warehouse managers rely on to plan, monitor, and improve operations.

Our customers operate across a wide range of industries, from fast-growing brands to established third-party logistics providers moving thousands of orders a day. We build software for real-world warehouse environments where reliability, clarity, and speed matter.

WarehouseOS is part of a major strategic evolution at Hoj Innovations, a company with more than six decades of experience designing, installing, and optimizing warehouse operations. Across more than 100,000 completed projects, Hoj has developed deep operational expertise in a category increasingly shaped by software. WarehouseOS is the starting point for a broader software capability within Hoj, with the opportunity to build products, platforms, and systems that serve the company’s wider portfolio over time.

We are looking for people who want to help shape that future.

About the role

We are hiring a Technical Program Manager to drive delivery planning, cross-functional execution, and launch readiness across a portfolio of WarehouseOS products, internal platforms, integrations, and client-facing initiatives.

You will report directly to the Director of Software Engineering and work closely with engineering, product, sales, customer success, operations, and leadership. Product will own product direction, engineering will own technical execution, and you will own the program layer that keeps complex work moving: clear plans, aligned teams, visible risks, crisp handoffs, and production-ready delivery.

This is an early TPM role on a growing software team, with room to shape how program management works at WarehouseOS. You will help create the operating rhythms, delivery mechanisms, and communication patterns that allow the team to scale without adding unnecessary process.

Because this role works closely with warehouse operations, implementations, engineering, and cross-functional leadership, it is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and requires a full-time in-office presence.

The salary range for this role is $110,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

In this role, you will:
  • Drive program planning and cross-functional execution across a portfolio of software products, integrations, and client projects.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership on roadmap sequencing, capacity planning, milestones, dependencies, and delivery tradeoffs.
  • Build practical program mechanisms such as roadmaps, launch plans, risk registers, status reporting, and runbooks.
  • Coordinate work across engineering, product, sales, customer success, clients, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and delivery gaps early, then drive clear decisions and durable fixes.
  • Maintain clear visibility into plans, progress, risks, and roadblocks for working teams and leadership.
  • Improve how work moves from discovery to delivery by clarifying ownership, strengthening handoffs, and reducing avoidable churn.
We're looking for someone who:
  • Has a degree in a technical field or equivalent demonstrated technical experience.
  • Has 5+ years of experience in technical program management, software delivery, product operations, engineering management, or a closely related role.
  • Has enough technical depth to reason with engineers about architecture, dependencies, tradeoffs, implementation risk, and launch readiness.
  • Has experience managing scope, schedule, quality, risk, dependencies, and critical paths across complex technical projects.
  • Has successfully driven technical programs from planning through production.
  • Can communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Creates useful structure without adding bureaucracy.
  • Is comfortable operating in a growing organization where some systems are established and others still need to be built.
  • Is fluent with modern delivery tooling such as Linear, Jira, GitHub, dashboards, CI/CD visibility, or equivalent systems.
Even better if you:
  • Have hands-on software development experience.
  • Have experience in warehouse management, logistics, supply chain, fulfillment, industrial automation, or operations-heavy software.
  • Are familiar with the .NET ecosystem and modern SaaS architecture.
  • Have managed integrations between software systems, hardware, vendors, or customer environments.
  • Are comfortable using AI tools to accelerate workflows, reduce manual overhead, and improve team productivity.
Benefits and perks
  • Flex PTO
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including mental health support, medical advice line access, flexible spending accounts, and parental leave
  • Disability and life insurance options
  • Employer dollar match to HSA and 401(k)
  • Team-building events and monthly catered office lunches
Extra mile

If you'd like to stand out, include a short description of something you took from idea to reality through your own initiative. It can be technical or non-technical. We're interested in how you think, how you take ownership, and how you make progress when the path is unclear.
