Technical Program Manager – DevOps/AWS

Irvine, CA

About the Role:

The DevOps/AWS Engineering team is a blend of pragmatic operators and software craftspeople tasked with maintaining and developing the reliability, scalability, and performance of the technology infrastructure and creating an innovative Developer Experience. The ultimate goal of this team is to provide a platform, tools, and developer experience for our Engineering teams to self-serve and enable them to own their service completely.

We cater this product to both the external customer base and also to our internal customers, the Engineering teams. To accomplish this, the team combines software development and systems engineering expertise with a strong desire to be challenged by scale and complexity problems and make services better for our customers. We're looking for an accomplished Technical Program Manager with a wealth of DevOps, SRE, Developer Experience [DX], and Cloud experience to join the DevOps/AWS Engineering team.

You will be responsible for the execution and success of multiple programs that are critical to the product strategy. TPMs are focused on improving our technology solutions. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes to leverage in your solutions. As a TPM, you are dedicated to building an ecosystem to empower every engineering team within the organization to Build, Ship, and Own the software they put out into the world. The role will report to our Director, Production Engineering.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Create a roadmap, gain alignment with scrum team(s) and leadership, build backlog and prioritize for the team to deliver business value.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering, Product Management and Engineering teams to understand requirements and associated priorities around Cloud Infrastructure, Platform and Developer Experience aspects.
  • Break down the requirements into user stories that Scrum team(s) can consume with clear acceptance criteria for deployment.
  • Deep-dive technically with engineering teams to define the "what", the "how" with engineering, and the "when" with program management.
  • Utilizing your deep technical knowledge, take a broad look at our offerings and Engineering needs and help us identify common and systematic issues and validate these, prioritizing which to strategically address first.
  • Evaluate and mitigate ongoing risks to project delivery (time, scope, budget) with an eye of knowing when to escalate blocking issues.
  • Manage multiple simultaneously and perform various tasks to help deliver more value to our customers.
  • Oversee large scale projects that are highly technical & cross-functional.
  • Monitor program status and rapidly identify issues/risks. Succinctly communicate issues to relevant stakeholders and proactively collaborate to ensure timely resolution.
  • Use technical judgment to drive project delivery and technology reviews, challenge proposals, and build consensus.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, on-time delivery of commitments and effective communication.

Skills We're Seeking:

  • 5+ years of experience as a product manager, program manager, software engineering manager at a technology company and/or in a technical capacity
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery
  • Experience managing DevOps programs and product strategy, including optimizing CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong experience managing projects that leverage Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, and planning tools (JIRA, Confluence or similar)
