Job description

Do you thrive on solving complex challenges and finding better ways to deliver materials to construction sites - eliminating friction, reducing rework, and making projects run smoother from start to finish?

Are you energized by working at the intersection of construction, design, and execution ... translating architectural intent into real, installable solutions that arrive on time and perform as expected?

Do you take pride in bringing order to complexity ... owning submittals, coordinating shop drawings, managing schedules, and resolving issues before they impact the jobsite?

If you answered yes to these questions, we should talk.

Our ASSA ABLOY Door Group team in Paramus, NJ is seeking a Technical Project Manager professional focused on Specialized Openings and Integrated Solutions. This is a technically focused project role reporting to the Head of Specialized Openings, where you will play a key role in delivering integrated hollow metal doors, frames, and hardware solutions across a dynamic portfolio of products ... including platforms such as RITE Door.

Come see who we are at: https://www.assaabloy.com/group/en/about-us

Our team is growing and there has never been a more exciting time to join us!

What would you do as our Technical Project Manager?

This role is designed for a problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, multi-faceted environments, someone who enjoys owning the details while keeping the big picture in focus. You will serve as a critical link between customers, internal teams, and project stakeholders ... ensuring our solutions are delivered accurately, efficiently, and with minimal friction from concept through installation.

You would also:

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Lead the preparation and execution of submittal packages, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project specifications
  • Coordinate and support shop drawing development, ensuring constructability and alignment with field conditions
  • Manage and maintain project schedules, proactively identifying risks and driving on-time delivery
  • Oversee order coordination, ensuring alignment from approved submittals through production readiness
  • Support order entry by collaborating with internal teams to ensure clear handoffs and alignment with milestone dates.

Technical Problem Solving

  • Serve as a technical resource answering questions or finding solutions related to doors, frames, and pre-installed hardware
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, door schedules, and specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact project timelines or installation

Customer & Field Engagement

  • Interface with contract hardware distributors, general contractors, and architects to ensure alignment and clear communication
  • Support post-order issue resolution, balancing customer needs with internal business goals
  • Participate in site visits when needed to support field coordination and problem resolution

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive process improvements that eliminate inefficiencies and reduce the "human struggle" in delivering and installing our integrated solutions
  • Contribute to a culture focused on accuracy, urgency, and accountability

The Skills and Experience you need:

  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction, pre-fabricated construction building materials, doors, frames, hardware, demountable walls, project management, or related field
  • Strong experience with:
    • Submittal preparation and review
    • Shop drawings and construction documentation
    • Project coordination and schedule management
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction schedules
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Good business judgment, with the ability to balance customer needs and operational priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar programs
  • Familiarity with construction project management platforms such as Procore or equivalent

 Who You Are

  • A self-starter who takes ownership and drives results
  • Someone who thrives in both independent work and collaborative environments
  • Comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, with the ability to manage urgency and competing priorities
  • Passionate about the built environment and delivering solutions that perform in the field

Why This Role Matters

At ASSA ABLOY Door Group, our Integrated Solutions approach is transforming how doors, frames, and hardware are delivered - moving from fragmented components to coordinated, ready-to-install systems.

In this role, you will directly impact how successfully projects are executed-helping to reduce jobsite inefficiencies, improve installation outcomes, and deliver a better overall experience for our customers and partners.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is up to $105,000, depending on experience, skills, and overall alignment with the position.
