Technical Project Manager

Vertiv is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support high-impact data center projects with a focus on low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems, including UL 891 switchboards and UL 1558 switchgear. This role operates in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment where accuracy, coordination, and execution are critical to delivering mission-critical infrastructure.

This position requires a self-directed, technically capable leader who can manage complex engineered-to-order (ETO) projects while driving alignment across engineering, operations, and customer teams.

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from engineering handoff through manufacturing and delivery, ensuring all technical requirements are clearly defined, aligned, and executed across cross-functional teams.

This role manages scope, schedule, technical coordination, and risk, while serving as the primary point of contact for technical communication between internal teams and customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-End Project Execution: Own execution from engineering handoff through production and delivery, ensuring scope, quality, and customer requirements are met.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Drive alignment between electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering to ensure designs are complete, accurate, and ready for release.
  • Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the primary interface for technical discussions with internal teams and customers, ensuring clarity on requirements, deviations, and resolutions.
  • Change Order Management: Own the change order process including documentation, impact assessment across cost, schedule, and manufacturing, and communication to all stakeholders.
  • Design Review Leadership: Facilitate internal and customer design reviews to validate compliance with project requirements, constructability, and applicable standards.
  • Code and Compliance Oversight: Ensure designs align with NEC, IEEE, UL 891, and UL 1558, as well as customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Project Metrics and Reporting: Track and report on key indicators including design quality, change order volume, cycle time, and issue resolution performance.
  • Engineering to Manufacturing Handoff: Ensure complete and accurate transfer of design packages, BOMs, and project requirements to manufacturing teams to support execution without rework.
  • ERP and Data Management: Navigate ERP systems such as Oracle and IFS to track project status, monitor BOM accuracy, and maintain data integrity.
  • Risk Identification and Resolution: Proactively identify technical risks and drive timely resolution across engineering and operations teams.
  • Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, cycle time reduction, and design quality.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project or program management within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage power distribution systems, including UL 891 switchboards and/or UL 1558 switchgear
  • Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Smartsheet
  • Strong communication, time management, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Experience navigating ERP systems such as Oracle and IFS to track BOMs, project data, and execution status
  • PMP certification or equivalent is preferred

Based in Anderson, SC with occasional travel to manufacturing facilities and customer sites as required. May require extended hours during critical project phases and customer delivery timelines.
