Summary
The Program Manager (PM) will manage and document project schedules and associated costs for the projects at Federal Equipment Company to meet overall customer schedule needs and company financial goals. The PM will follow Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD) standard practices to coordinate project deliverables, project objectives, company segment goals, company and site initiatives, and strategy. The program manager will be an integral part of customer communications and will coordinate activities between various departments at Federal Equipment Company to include supply chain, engineering, operations, quality and finance.
The Program Manager is expected to plan and oversee the execution of projects associated with Naval and Marine applications. The position requires administrative control of the portfolio of projects in accordance with established standard practices. The program manager will report directly to the site VP / GM
The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring achievement of all project objectives both internal and contractual. The Program Manager focuses on technical and administrative control of the project and acts as the primary point of contact from pre-solicitation scope development through project completion.
The Program Manager is responsible for leading the integrated project team and ensuring the project technical and business objectives are achieved. Success is measured in terms of meeting or exceeding project financial performance (revenue, cost, and profit margin), customer satisfaction metrics, and contract deliverables.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accountable for managing well-defined projects - ensuring the projects meet schedule, specification, cost, and business case requirements expressed as objectives agreed with the customer, site VP/GM and supporting functions. This includes the application of key program management techniques including integrated planning, work breakdown structure application, the management of customer/contract scope, quality requirements and deliverables, risk management and financial/schedule management and reporting.
  • Coordinates with Sales / Bids & Proposal / Service Operations groups to understand and implement proposal plans, contract budgets, deliverables, and program schedules to establish accurate scope of contract work to meet contractual requirements. Manages the transition from the proposal phase to the contract phase, effectively communicating the requirements and objectives to all organizational disciplines.
  • Proactively monitors risks, opportunities, and project performance to ensure the project is achieving all business objectives, coordinates the development of recovery plans when deficient performance is observed, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Serves as a leader within the Federal Equipment Company team.
  • Manages customer communications. Serves as the customer advocate for all matters pertaining to the assigned projects. As the customer advocate, the PM participates in all areas requiring resolution with other departments and functions, other organizations, and suppliers.
  • Assures adequate cost collection occurs to verify budget accuracy.
  • Evaluates all phases of the assigned projects including budget, schedule, technical and manufacturing performance, actuals and variances. Provides periodic reports to management to reflect the status of the assigned projects.
  • May be required to occasionally travel to customer or supplier locations or to meet with internal teams.
  • Supports business development pipeline and execution with the site VP/GM, Sales Managers, Solutions Sales Mangers, Service Centers, Project Leads and Customer Service
  • Shared responsibility for FMS Segment Revenue, Order Intake, and GM%
  • Provides support to site VP/GM in pursuit of new projects, customer-initiated product upgrades and equipment investigations, aftermarket parts sales and product user groups

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Management, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or other related fields
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated successful project execution experience in a technical field; marine is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple indirect teams of 5-10 individuals, including the ability to appropriately balance team and individual workloads and provide feedback to direct managers for performance coaching.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated resiliency to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and priorities for multiple projects or assignments
  • Strong Polish and English language communications skills (verbal, written and presentation); ability to clearly and concisely express and present information (or data) to non-technical associates, peers, and senior management
  • Ability to grasp financial data related to reporting and decision-making
  • Experience with transfer of projects begun in one site to a separate site for production is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, self-determined spirit
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 20%
  • Excellent business power user IT skills (MS Office & Office 365, MS Project)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred
