Job Title: Assistant Manager – Outpatient Imaging
Job Location: Chico, CA
Working Hours: Full-Time | Day Shift
Department: Diagnostic Imaging
Job Type: Permanent | Direct Hire

Salary - USD $100,000 to $160,000 

Position summary

The Assistant Manager of Outpatient Imaging supports operational, financial, quality, and personnel management within the Diagnostic Imaging department under the supervision of the Radiology Manager. This leadership role provides oversight for technologists, maintains image quality and regulatory compliance, and promotes patient-centered care in alignment with organizational values.​

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with daily staffing, scheduling, and productivity management to help meet budget and volume targets.​

  • Supervise Lead and Senior Technologists and indirectly oversee technical imaging staff, providing coaching and performance feedback.​

  • Promote employee engagement, professional development, and performance management, including participation in hiring, orientation, and evaluations.​

  • Support department goals, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with Joint Commission, ACR, and state and federal regulations.​

  • Maintain image quality control, enforce departmental policies and procedures, and support accreditation readiness.​

  • Act as liaison between patients, physicians, and care teams to resolve service issues and enhance patient experience.​

  • Participate in program development, performance improvement projects, and annual staff evaluations as assigned.​

Required qualifications & skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Diagnostic Technologist in an acute-care setting.​

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an acute-care imaging environment.​

  • Active California CRT and/or ARRT certification, as appropriate to imaging discipline.​

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.​

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, ACR standards, and California Title 17 & 22 regulatory requirements for radiology services.​

  • Ability to manage resources, staffing, and workflow in a fast-paced outpatient imaging department.​

Preferred qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Imaging, Healthcare, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of prior supervisory or managerial experience in diagnostic imaging.​

  • Advanced imaging certification (e.g., CT, MRI, NMTCB, mammography, or related modality).​
