Surgery Specialty Program Manager

Job Summary Surgery Specialty Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire process/daily functions of the Specialty Programs within the General Surgery service line, to include continuous development and evidence-based process improvement. They provide support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures as well as ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agency requirements. The Specialty Program Manager maintains responsibility for ensuring that the general surgery subspecialty programs and its components are compliant with appropriate accreditation standards of insurance payors and other national accrediting agencies.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years of Experience Working in the Clinical Environment with General Surgery Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None. Required Certifications/Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of South Carolina; Required Training: None.

Essential Functions Assists in managing the accreditation process and ensuring continuous compliance with General Surgery Subspecialty program requirements. Serves as the liaison between the institution, the General Surgery Subspecialty programs, and all surgeons performing general surgery at the institution. Assists in program development, collaborating with the Outcomes Coordinator in managing the accreditation process and ensuring continuous compliance with program requirements. Facilitates the development and implementation of new general surgery related services. Organizes and manages data collection and data formation. Performs statistical analysis of data, summarizes findings, and prepares reports. Responsible for developing, updating and facilitating general surgery patient education (pre-operative and post-operative materials). Collaborates with the Marketing Department to develop and update all General Surgery Subspecialty program materials to include printed and video formats for education and marketing purposes. Updates current general surgery related procedures and processes to meet best practices by providing leadership and expertise for new performance improvement activities, designing and guiding implementation of performance improvement plans, in appropriate areas. Consults with internal and external leaders and organizations (community or corporate) on and acts as liaison to assist with general surgery related needs and negotiates for services based on these needs. Serves as facilitator/liaison for monthly General Surgery Subspecialty support groups. Duties & Responsibilities Oversees the Bariatric Protein Product line to include inventory, sales, decision making in product offerings, and clinical appropriateness. Responsible for research and market study pertaining to benchmarking the program throughout the country by utilizing nationally developed practice guidelines and other research-based practice recommendations in the selection of the process and outcome indicators to be measured. Responsible for scheduling and management of Patient Care Plan meetings in collaboration with the general surgeons, the general surgery clinical team as well as outside providers. Assists in monitoring and changing processes to ensure insurance qualification requirements are met to allow for increased access to General Surgery Subspecialty Programs. Assist in interviewing and orientation and education of General Surgery staff. Serves as lead educator in providing skills or in-service education sessions for Medical Staff and/or employees regarding special needs of General Surgery Subspecialty patients. Develops and manages constant presence on social media and Patient Communication for the General Surgery Subspecialty Programs. Follows all department policies and procedures and ensures staff compliance. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with administration, IT and clinical care teams through participation in the planning, development, evaluation, and maintenance of the Clinical Information Systems. Assists in monitoring and changing processes to ensure insurance qualification requirements are met to allow for increased access to the General Surgery Subspecialty Programs. Performs all other duties as assigned.
