Technical / Content Writer (ISO Documentation Specialist)

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba or Canadian Prairies (Remote/hybrid options may be considered within region)
Duration: 12–18 months contract
Engagement Type: Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical/Content Writer Consultant to support ISO certification readiness by developing, standardizing, and refining organizational documentation. This role will translate operational processes into clear, compliant, and audit-ready documentation aligned with ISO requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience producing structured documentation for ISO audits or similar compliance-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain ISO-compliant documentation (policies, procedures, work instructions)
  • Translate complex operational processes into clear, structured written content
  • Collaborate with SMEs and process owners to gather requirements and validate documentation
  • Standardize documentation templates and ensure consistency across departments
  • Support gap analysis documentation and remediation tracking materials
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with applicable ISO standards and audit expectations
  • Assist in preparing audit-ready document packages and evidence sets
  • Maintain version control and document governance practices
  • Work closely with Project Manager and quality/compliance teams

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, business writing, or documentation roles
  • Direct experience supporting ISO certification documentation or audit preparation (mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of ISO standards documentation requirements (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, etc.)
  • Experience working with process documentation, SOPs, and controlled document environments
  • Ability to interpret technical/process information and convert it into structured documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of compliance language and tone
  • Experience working in regulated, audit-driven, or quality management environments
  • Proficiency with document management systems and version control practices

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based in Winnipeg or the Canadian Prairies (or willing to travel as required)
  • Available for a 12–18 month consulting engagement
