ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Manager, Digital Strategy & Transformation - IT (Information Technology/OT (Operational Technology) Integration and SMART Manufacturing you will lead the digital transformation of our manufacturing network with collaboration with Global Supply Chain teams and Global Business Services team by driving IT-OT convergence, deploying Industry 4.0 technologies, and enabling data-driven, connected operations. In this role you are responsible for shaping the SMART Factory roadmap, overseeing digital assessments across plants, and guiding the implementation of high-impact use cases that improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and sustainability. This role requires deep Digital Manufacturing /SMART Factory expertise, digital fluency, and strong stakeholder collaboration to drive transformation and user adoption.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with operational leadership, program management skills, and a passion for modernizing manufacturing environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Roadmap Development
Define and maintain the SMART Factory vision, roadmap, and multi-year strategy.
  • Align digital manufacturing priorities with business goals (cost, quality, safety, capacity, OEE, sustainability).
  • Identify high-impact use cases for digital transformation (automation, analytics, IIoT, dashboards, AI/ML, MES enhancements, etc.).

Digital Maturity & Factory Assessment
  • Lead IT/OT digital maturity assessments across manufacturing sites.
  • Benchmark current systems, processes, and technologies against SMART Factory standards.
  • Develop factory-level improvement plans and oversee prioritization of investments.

IT-OT Integration & Governance
  • Ensure strong alignment between IT and OT organizations.
  • Oversee architecture for data flow, system integration (MES, ERP, SCADA, historians, and edge devices).
  • Establish cybersecurity standards for plant equipment, networks, and connected systems.
  • Govern data integrity, access, and reliability across manufacturing systems.

Program & Project Leadership
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of SMART Factory programs (from concept to deployment).
  • Establish project milestones, budgets, resource plans, and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Engineering, Quality, SHE, Logistics and broader Supply Chain Organization).
  • Lead vendor/partner engagements for digital and automation solutions.

Technology Enablement & Deployment
  • Oversee evaluation and deployment of Industry 4.0 technologies such as:
  • IoT sensors and edge devices
  • MES deployment / MOM solutions
  • Digital twins (process, equipment, supply chain)
  • Integration with ERP, PLM, Sourcing, Planning systems, etc.
  • Autonomous systems / robotics, Advanced analytics, AI/ML,
  • Predictive maintenance and connected worker tools
  • Evaluate new digital manufacturing tools and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote a culture of digital adoption and continuous improvement
  • Use data and analytics to drive improvements in throughput, downtime reduction, yield, scrap, and labor productivity.

Stakeholder, Vendor, and Ecosystem Management
  • Partner with BW, GBS, Lean, Manufacturing Engineering, manufacturing COE teams and others to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Oversee relationships with technology partners, system integrators, and consultants.
  • Ensure vendor solutions align with enterprise digital standards and long-term architecture.
  • Define and Prioritize the Product Backlog: Create and maintain a prioritized product backlog based on business needs. This involves assessing the value and effort associated with each item and collaborating with stakeholders to reach consensus on prioritization decisions.

Leadership
  • Serve as the main GBS-BW point of contact for SMART Factory strategy across the organization.
  • Communicate program status with executives, plant leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, assessments, and discovery sessions to align teams on priorities.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, IT-OT, digital transformation, or Industrial Engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of MES, SCADA, PLCs, IoT systems, automation equipment, and ERP/MES/PLM integration.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
  • Experience leading multi-site projects or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership and vendor management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication abilities
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence certification (Green Belt/Black Belt).
  • Experience leading SMART Factory, Industry 4.0, or digital manufacturing programs.
  • Expertise in IT-OT convergence and modern factory architecture.
  • Experiences with Global Lighthouse Digital Manufacturing and/ or National Association of Manufacturing (Digital Manufacturing Farmwork)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, analytics, digital twins, predictive maintenance, or cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for OT environments.
  • Ability to define ROI, business cases, and performance improvement models.
  • Demonstrated experience enabling cultural and organizational change in manufacturing settings

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Full time with occasional operational support outside core business hours
  • Ability to travel ~25%
  • Office work environment: Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
  • This role is eligible for domestic relocation
