Job description

What success looks like in this role:

Provides leadership and oversight for the Engineering team responsible for designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient technology solutions. The role focuses on improving operational efficiency, establishing best practices, and enabling internal teams and customers through standardized platforms and streamlined processes. Works across technical and business teams to reduce manual tasks, enforce standards, and implement reliable infrastructure solutions. Leads development efforts for the Unisys Infrastructure Platform, supporting operational stability and service delivery.

Team Leadership and Project Delivery

* Provides direction to a team of engineers (direct or indirect) focused on infrastructure engineering, system integration, and operational improvements.
* Oversees the execution of projects, including scope, timeline, resource planning, and budget control.
* Retains technical ownership for designing and coordinating scalable, resilient infrastructure and services.

Automation and Tooling

* Leads the development and implementation of automation solutions to support system provisioning, configuration management, and operational efficiency.
* Promotes standardized deployment and configuration practices to improve consistency and reduce manual work.
* Drives adoption of self-service capabilities for common operational tasks such as provisioning, access requests, and service management through platforms like ServiceNow or internal service catalogs.

Stakeholder and Cross-Functional Engagement

* Collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and align technical delivery with organizational goals.
* Partners with architecture, security, and operations teams to enforce compliance, streamline change management, and improve platform usability.

Standards and Operational Excellence

* Establishes best practices and operating procedures for system build, deployment, support, and incident management.
* Implements monitoring and alerting solutions to support proactive system management and operational visibility.
* Ensures secure management of credentials and privileged access in accordance with enterprise security standards.

Platform Improvement and Continuous Development

* Leads ongoing improvements to engineering platforms to support enterprise workloads and resilient infrastructure.
* Evaluates technologies and methodologies that enhance system reliability, operational efficiency, and team productivity.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • BA/BS degree and 8-10 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • 3-5 years' leadership experience

  • Experience leading and managing managed services engineering teams (windows, linux, database, datacenter)

  • Demonstrated experience in solving complex business and technical problems in a highly regulated environment

  • Strong focus on implementing process and technology automation

  • Strong communication and written skills, ability to drive MBR's, QBR's with account teams

  • Must be a US Citizenship due to servicing DoD account.
