Job description

SENIOR TECHNICAL SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER

The salary for this role will be between $175,000-$195,000 depending on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, as a Senior Technical Software Engineering Manager at ClearCo, you will join our talented, collaborative, and inclusive engineering team to help grow our team’s capabilities to expand our best-in-class HR platform.   • Lead the engineering team responsible for our Platform Architecture and Shared Services that span technologies, frameworks, and other components that contribute to the application development ecosystem.
  • Analyze existing systems and processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements.
  • Contribute to long term vision and the strategy to achieve the vision for the technology organization.
  • Lead collaboration across technology teams to foster innovation and follow guidelines around re-usability of frameworks and governance of architecture patterns.
  • Own and drive the engineering roadmap for the Platform team as we modernize our architecture from monolithic to services-oriented to support rapid growth.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to direct reports to help them further develop their skills and guide them on their career paths.
  • Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions (work on POCs as needed).
  • Collaborate with senior management to establish team policies, develop resource plans, and evaluate individual performance.
  • Partner with Product Management, UX, and Tech Leads to drive product innovation and technical excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture that emphasizes continuous learning and growth.
WHAT WE'D LIKE YOU TO HAVE
  • SaaS Architecture Expertise & Decision Making: 10+ years’ of experience involved in building and supporting SaaS products at scale, with the ability to quickly make difficult architectural and technical decisions.
  • Modernization Leadership: Software-first leader with 5+ years of people leadership experience who has modernized legacy codebases and platforms from reactive operations to proactive platform engineering.
  • AI-First Development: Well-versed in AI-assisted and AI-first development practices, with hands-on experience using AI platforms to accelerate development, testing, code reviews, and security scans. Embraces AI and its potential to transform how we deliver high-quality products to our clients.
  • Culture of Experimentation: Fosters an engineering environment that challenges the status quo, values experimentation, and fast follow-ups. Fosters a collaborative engineering culture that values continuous learning, mentorship, and innovation.
  • People and Project Management: Possesses a track record of delivering complex projects on schedule while maintaining code quality and team well-being. Proven experience working with strong personalities, ensuring the team remains focused and on-track.
