Job Title: Standards Engineer - eMobility
Reports to: Director of Business Development - eMobility - North America
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary
Primary responsibility is to maximize the development of sales potential of eMobility applications in North America for both charging and onboard connectors. The Standards Engineer (TSE) has demonstrated a working knowledge of electrical connector products in relevant market and can utilize this knowledge to influence technical standards and committees to the advantage of Stäubli solutions. The TSE has also demonstrated a working knowledge of the component sales process, shows a willingness to excel, and can work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Aggressively promote Staubli's eMobility products in accordance with the policies that have been established by the corporation.
• Evaluates data in standards, committees, catalogs and other technical documents with the intent of improving Stäubli products or presenting superior performance of Stäubli solutions.
• Collaborates with Engineering and other departments to prepare technical documentation, presentations and reports to support Stäubli contribution to relevant standards.
• Has excellent communication skills and represents Stäubli as a panel speaker or for press inquiries at relevant events.
• Strong working knowledge of eMobility and related infrastructure markets and the key customers in this market. Understanding how to leverage our products within this market.
• Utilize all available resources and sales tools to pursue the goal of promoting Stäubli Electrical Connectors products and ultimately increasing sales.
• Collaborate internally to assist with the development of new opportunities with our current products, but also provide market feedback to develop new products to grow the focus market.
• Utilize time to efficiently and perform administrative duties such as CRM entry, reporting, and customer correspondence.
• Has demonstrated the ability to successfully perform with minimal supervision, has a desire for an independent level of supervision, but also understands when support is necessary to promote the growth within the territory.
• Develop good communication and rapport with the decision-making personnel and with all staff at customers and headquarters.
• Obtain intimate knowledge of all products and their function and application. Be able to convert the product features into customer benefits.
• Has a good understanding of customer's products and competitive solutions.
• Aware of industry trends and new product developments. Keep management informed of competitive activity and business conditions. Recommend appropriate action.
• Maintain an up-to-date customer contact address book listing all customer personnel and their job functions and mailing list.
• Maintain a priority file on active projects.
• Responsible to participate in Networking events, tradeshows, webinars, and other marketing events.
• Support in the preparation of Monthly reports.
• Develop a close working relationship with Staubli Electrical Connectors home office personnel including the General Manager, appropriate Insides Sales Representative, and Application Engineers.
• Submit required paperwork on required dates, including call reports and expense reports.
• Ensure all social media support the Staubli guidelines, and self-monitor social media platforms to ensure on-going compliance and voice of Staubli.
• Minimum of 30% travel required.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
• Be able to perform each essential duty adequately.
• Use good oral and written communication skills to work effectively with customers and other staff.
• Be a team player willing to assist where needed, and be a self- starter and work under limited supervision.
• Be able to use critical thinking and problem solving to resolve customer issues.
• Exhibit computer skills: Microsoft Office, Internet, e-mail to conduct daily business as well as contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual sales presentations and reporting.
• Characteristics would include: driven, ambitious, competitive, optimistic, resilient, analytic, self-starter, independent, entrepreneurial, solution-oriented and influential.
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Management, or other equivalent technical degree.
• Minimum 3 years of successful field sales experience.
• Proven success of company-direct sales of technical products.
• Engineer has met all criteria established by FSE and Sales Manager or direct supervisor.
