Position Overview: 

The 2D Technical Design Associate / Design Associate I is a member of the Design Team. The 2D Technical Design Associate is an exempt, full-time position that reports to the 2D/Technical Design Manager. The 2D Technical Design Associate's primary duties are supporting the creation of 2D design mockups and technical specification documentation. This role focuses on accurate execution of design intent, maintaining visual and technical documentation, and supporting cross-functional communication. 

Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Associate develops foundational technical design skills while contributing to the timely and accurate delivery of product. 

Responsibilities: 

2D Design Execution 

  • Support creation of 2D mockups for new and existing styles, ensuring alignment with design direction and brand standards. 

  • Execute updates, recolors, and refinements to existing styles as directed. 

  • Assist in building and maintaining Visual Assortment Documents for clarity and consistency. 

  • Translate design direction into clean, accurate visuals with guidance from senior team members. 

  • Apply materials and color direction to designs to support overall assortment needs. 

Technical Design Execution 

  • Assist in the creation and updating of technical specification documents. 

  • Accurately document and communicate construction, materials, and functionality to cross-functional partners and manufacturers for assigned styles. 

  • Review designs for production viability, wearability, and functionality, flagging potential issues for review. 

  • Support Product Development in troubleshooting construction challenges, escalating issues and assisting with solutions as directed. 

  • Ensure consistency and quality control across all technical documentation before handoff. 

Process & Workflow Contribution 

  • Follow established workflows for 2D design, spec creation, and documentation  

  • Maintain organized files and documentation according to team standards 

  • Identify and communicate errors or inconsistencies for correction 

  • Support ongoing improvements by providing feedback on tools and processes 

  • Track progress across multiple projects and proactively communicate status, supporting on-time and accurate delivery in a fast-paced environment 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Actively contribute to spec review meetings to ensure alignment and clarity across teams 

  • Partner with leadership to support seasonal kickoff and concepting 

  • Participate in meetings to understand project requirements and timelines  

  • Incorporate feedback from Design and Product Development into revisions 

Design Team Contribution 

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with supervisor and members of the design team to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate and cohesive assortment completion  

  • Seek feedback and apply direction to improve quality and efficiency 

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and learning-focused team environment 

  • Demonstrate organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments  

  • Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment       

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Jewelry design or Product development field or equivalent job experience 

  • 0-2+ years experience in jewelry design, technical design, or product development for a high growth company 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel 

  • Basic understanding of costume and fine jewelry construction-stone settings as well asworking mechanisms including clasps and hinges 

  • A proven ability to execute with consistent high quality on-time delivery 

  • Strong problem-solvingskills with an eye for technical detail 

  • Strong listening and communication skills and willingness to learn 

  • Ability to communicate 3D concepts clearly through 2D visuals and documentation 

  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously 

  • The ability to be a team player and contribute to a positive working environment
