Job description

Position Summary

This writing-focused position will work to transform complex information into clear, user-friendly documentation in the form of policies, guides, manuals and other end-user documentation. The technical writer will collaborate closely with business units across the organization to prepare materials aligned with their work. The generated deliverables will empower Bank members and other stakeholders to efficiently use Bank products, services and delivery channels.

Primary Success Factors

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Promotes business value and brand equity; this includes developing and managing internal/external communications, marketing and branding, digital content and video design, as well as support for financial reporting and events

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, focusing on aligning the Bank's mission and working with our members, employees and the community

  • Contributes to the management of the Bank's external affairs and government relations portfolio to ensure accuracy and clarity of messages

  • Develops user manuals, guides, and online help content that clearly explains product features and functionalities

  • Works closely with subject matter experts and management to gather technical information and ensure accuracy in documentation

  • Organizes and maintains documentation to ensure it is up-to-date and accessible, using tools and templates for consistency

  • Reviews and edits documentation created by other team members to ensure it meets quality standards and adheres to style guides

  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations to ensure safe and sound business.

MarCom-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Advances Bankwide objectives in member product use; specific focus on credit product enhancements and support of annual round marketing, documentation and messaging for the Bank's community products

  • Develops, writes, and produces materials as required for member communications, news releases, brochures, copy or others content as required

  • Provides guidance related to the Bank's communications strategy, storytelling and technical writing. Navigates cross-departmental collaboration throughout varying levels of tenure and in-office presence

  • Supports all areas of the marketing mix, including earned, owned, paid, and social media

  • Helps to develop and maintain specified areas of the Bank's public website, including regular reviews of content and links; Assists with writing and updating site according to scheduled procedures

  • Collaborates with the MarCom team to identify ways to enhance the Bank's public website, as well as evaluating and implementing the potential use of various social media

  • Contributes content to Bank's intranet on a regular basis

  • Writes, edits and modifies documentation, user manuals, policy and guide documents, training courses, and other Bank materials

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English, public relations, communications or related field; master's degree is a plus

  • Five or more years of communications or technical writing experience preferably within financial services firm

  • Strong customer service, analytical, organizational and problem resolution capabilities

  • Highest level of interpersonal skills: solid verbal and written communication expertise

  • Solid PC skills (e.g., Adobe, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom). Exceptional writing skills in a variety of styles for brochures, bylined articles, web copy, scripts, speeches, business forms and documents, etc. Writes with clarity and structure, ensuring that content is easy to navigate and understand for the intended audience

  • Ability to make sound judgments quickly regarding sensitive information and represent the Bank in a variety of highly visible situations with integrity and professionalism

  • Experienced in project management and able to manage multiple projects or programs simultaneously

  • Ability to develop and foster productive and respectful relationships with members, as well as key community stakeholders, Board members, vendors, and media partners

  • Proficiency with PC, A/V presentations and electronic media; experience in HTML and electronic publishing is required

  • Ability to measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies; Exceptional oral communication and organizational skills; excellent proofreading ability

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, members, staff and external stakeholders
