Job Description
 

This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful water infrastructure projects that improve communities, protect public health, and advance sustainable water solutions. You'll have the ability to shape technical strategy, grow client relationships, mentor future leaders, and work alongside some of the industry's leading water professionals while delivering innovative solutions for today's most complex water challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Project Manager and/or Project Technical Leader for complex water infrastructure projects, including drinking water treatment facilities, water reclamation plants, water reuse systems, conveyance pipelines, pump stations, collection systems, and related municipal infrastructure.

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, design, delivery, and execution of water and wastewater projects from concept through construction.

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk while ensuring successful project delivery and high client satisfaction.

  • Provide technical leadership and develop engineering solutions for water, wastewater, water reuse, and conveyance systems that align with client goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects, reviewing, approving, and sealing engineering designs, technical reports, plans, and specifications in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of engineering calculations, reports, studies, design packages, permitting documents, and construction-phase services.

  • Perform and direct technical evaluations, alternatives analyses, hydraulic modeling, process modeling, and system master planning efforts to support client decision-making and project development.

  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, condition assessments, and stakeholder meetings to support project planning, design development, and project execution.

  • Foster strong client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for municipal, industrial, and public-sector clients.

  • Partner with business development and sales teams to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and prepare winning proposals, statements of qualifications (SOQs), and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs).

  • Participate in client presentations, industry conferences, professional organizations, and networking events to enhance market presence and support growth initiatives within Water Services.

  • Contribute to the firm's technical excellence programs through the development of technical guidance documents, best practices, white papers, presentations, and innovative engineering solutions.

  • Support and advance the firm's technical knowledge management (TKM) efforts by sharing expertise across disciplines and geographic regions.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers and technical professionals, helping build the next generation of project managers and technical leaders.

  • Provide guidance, oversight, and quality reviews for project teams while promoting collaboration, engagement, and professional growth.

  • Collaborate effectively with regional, national, and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that address complex water challenges.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering water, wastewater, water reuse, or conveyance projects.
  • Strong understanding of treatment processes, collection and distribution systems, pumping systems, and municipal infrastructure.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

USD $100,214.00

USD $175,365.00
Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
