Job description

We have a great opportunity for a Surgical Technician - Clinton Township, MI

  • 13+ weeks contract, may become extended or become permanent
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Compensation: Up to $49/hour!
  • Work Schedule: 2 days a week (8 hour shifts) + 2 day a week (12 hour shifts)
  • Hours: 6:50am - 3:20pm, and 6:50am - 7:20pm
  • On-call: 1 Saturday every 5 weeks / 12-hour shift


Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist supports surgical procedures by preparing and handling instruments, supplies, and equipment under the direction of the Registered Nurse and surgical team. This role ensures the operating room is properly set up, assists during procedures, and helps maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-focused surgical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scrub in and assist during general surgical procedures
  • Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments and supplies based on procedure type
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly before use
  • Support the surgical team by anticipating procedural needs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized operating room environment
  • Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times
  • Assist with patient preparation, transport, admission, transfer, and discharge in the OR.
  • Respond to emergent situations following established protocols
  • Deliver supplies and support inventory and par level management
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and departmental information
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and quality initiatives
  • Assist in training or supporting new Surgical Technologists as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • 1+ years of Surgical Technologist experience required
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull patients and equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials may occur


Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program preferred


Certification

  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 1 month of hire
  • CST certification is not required
