Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Technician is responsible for installing, testing, monitoring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing computer systems, networks and peripherals. Manage user account information, including rights, security and systems groups. This position reports to the Vice President.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Oversee the daily performance of all Agency systems.

Set up and install new desktops, laptops, mobile devices and other peripherals according to our standards ensuring proper installation of cabling, operating systems, and appropriate software.

Coordinate and implement software and hardware changes/upgrades to computer/mobile devices, network equipment and other peripherals.

Maintain a secure systems environment. Monitor to ensure proper operation and integrity. Immediately report breaches to the Vice President and the 3PV (IT Consultant).

Evaluate, troubleshoot and prioritize requests from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, telephony, and other computer related technologies. Provide telephone and online support as needed.

Resolve technical issues with minimal assistance from 3rd party consultants/vendors.

Provide training and assistance to internal customers.

Maintain PCI compliance throughout the agency.

Create, edit and maintain user access lists/groups.

Maintain and report on IT equipment inventory. Recommend equipment replacement and/or purchase.

Regular attendance is required to perform the essential functions of the job.

SECONDARY DUTIES

May act as upper-level support to the Agency for more complex projects or customer service issues.

Special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required: Accredited high school diploma or equitant. Some college and/or technical IT training preferred.

Experience Required: 5 years of IT support, including hands-on technical experience with computer, software and network environments,

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge Required: Knowledge of servers, firewalls, routers, switches and hubs. PC, laptop, copier, laser printer, telephone, voice mail systems and mobile devices. Software to include Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Outlook.

Equipment Used: Various electronic equipment including copiers, printers, PC, laptops, cash registers, PDA's, telephones, mobile devices and digital security system.

SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS

Excellent command of the English language verbally and in writing and the ability to effectively communicate in both forms.

Ability to exercise a high degree of patience interacting with staff of varying technological abilities.

Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment will affect outcomes.

Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Ability to work with diverse work force.

Ability to travel to various off-site locations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and vendors.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT

Ability to problem solve, work well under pressure, and prioritize work assignments. Must exercise a high degree of confidentiality and integrity in the performance of job duties.

LICENSES/INSURANCE/TRANSPORTATION

Must possess a valid California driver's license, proof of insurance, and have access to reliable transportation.

JOB SETTING

In-house: Excellent environmental conditions; thermostat-controlled environment. Frequent off-site visits to outlying locations with occasional overnight stays. Travel is essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to sit in a stationary position for long periods of time. Ability to ambulate, reach and lift 35 lbs. Ability to bend/lift from waist. Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Good dexterity in upper extremities and upper torso, moving from side to side, bending at the waist. Talk and hear, in person and by telephone. Good dexterity in hands, fingers, wrists and arms.
