To thrive as a Tech Solutions Specialist, you need a strong understanding of IT systems, troubleshooting skills, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with enterprise software, CRM tools, and relevant certifications like CompTIA or Microsoft are often required. Outstanding problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills help you address client needs and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. These abilities ensure you can deliver effective solutions and maintain client satisfaction in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

How does a Tech Solutions professional typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Tech Solutions professionals regularly work cross-functionally, partnering with departments such as sales, product development, and customer support to ensure technology solutions align with business needs. They may join client meetings with sales teams to understand requirements, work with engineers to implement solutions, and provide training or documentation to end users. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as priorities can shift quickly based on organizational goals or client feedback.

What are Tech Solutions professionals?

Tech Solutions professionals are experts who analyze, design, and implement technology-based solutions to address business challenges or improve operations. Job Description:

Join GDIT's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and help shape how emerging technologies are translated into mission advantage across Defense, Intelligence, Homeland Security, Federal Civilian, and Federal Health markets.

This is a senior, high-visibility role for a technically fluent architect and strategist who can assess what matters, separate signal from hype, and turn promising technologies into practical paths for mission adoption. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, applied R&D, solution architecture, and technology strategy, working with startups, labs, and ecosystem partners while collaborating across GDIT's growth, engineering, and delivery teams.

You will move beyond identifying trends to helping GDIT evaluate, prioritize, and apply emerging technologies in ways that strengthen customer solutions, sharpen pursuits, and accelerate prototype development.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead horizon scanning and technical evaluation across the emerging technology landscape, engaging directly with startup and emerging technology company founders, CTOs, engineers, labs, and ecosystem partners
  • Assess the maturity, mission relevance, integration feasibility, and risk profile of technologies across areas such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, advanced wireless/6G, RF systems, autonomy, space, edge compute, and adjacent domains
  • Translate technical findings into clear recommendations, market insights, technology roadmaps, and adoption strategies for GDIT leaders, solution teams, and business units
  • Drive emerging technology engagements across the enterprise, including technical deep dives, workshops, technology radars, and cross-functional exchange sessions
  • Collaborate with capture, solution architecture, and engineering teams across GDIT business units to identify opportunities where emerging technologies can improve customer outcomes and strengthen solution differentiation
  • Define integration approaches, technical advantages, risks, and mitigation strategies to support pursuits, prototypes, and mission solutions
  • Build and sustain relationships with nontraditional vendors, venture-backed companies, research organizations, and strategic partners to expand GDIT's access to innovation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align experiments, pilots, and prototype efforts with mission needs, customer requirements, and scalable integration patterns
  • Apply knowledge of federal mission environments, procurement realities, and operational constraints to inform where and how emerging technologies can create real impact

What success looks like

In your first 6-12 months, you will:

  • Build a prioritized view of emerging technologies with the highest relevance to GDIT markets
  • Expand GDIT's network of validated emerging tech partners and ecosystem relationships
  • Influence solution strategies and priority pursuits with credible, technically grounded recommendations
  • Help shape pilots, prototypes, and integration patterns that move technologies from evaluation to mission application
  • Contribute thought leadership and actionable insight products used by GDIT technical and business leaders

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Required Experience: 15+ years of experience in technology, engineering, applied R&D, systems architecture, or other mission-aligned technical roles
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Experience assessing, architecting, and integrating emerging or disruptive technologies into mission systems
    • Broad technical fluency across areas such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, advanced wireless, RF systems, autonomy, space systems, or edge compute
    • Ability to evaluate technology maturity, mission applicability, integration complexity, and adoption risk
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills
    • Experience developing technology assessments, roadmaps, market scans, and adoption recommendations
    • Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to brief senior technical and business leaders and translate complex concepts for diverse stakeholders
    • Experience collaborating across engineering, solution architecture, capture, and delivery teams
    • Ability to engage credibly with startup founders, emerging technology companies, labs, and ecosystem partners
  • Location: HQ, Falls Church, VA hybrid schedule in the office 3 days/week
  • US Person
