About the role

The Assistant Designer will assist the Design Team in executing seasonal concept direction, line plan style needs, margin requirements and completion of product. Communicates to vendors and other departments under the direction of the Design Director while providing tactical, administrative and clerical support.

The impact you can have

  • Assist Design Director in creating the product collections at the beginning of each season for specific category/categories

  • Support design team by preparing necessary visual tools (i.e. sketches, doll boards, presentation boards, fabric swatches, color standards, etc)

  • Assist in coordinating category samples and cads for line review and line close

  • Attend all Fit sessions pertaining to your category/categories

  • Partner with merchants to know and understand sales of your category and able to apply this sales knowledge to future development

  • Assist in all sketching, creating complete accurate seasonal tech pack execution, tech pack updates and line sheets per categories under direction of the Design Director

You’ll bring to the role

  • 1-2 years of experience in a design or product development related position for a fashion retailer.

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or related field preferred.

  • Some background in fit, fabric development, finishes and construction details preferred.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point, Adobe Illustrator

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
