Job description

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota | On-Site
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: A Shift 5:45 am - 6:15 pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday
About the Role
We are seeking skilled Equipment Maintenance Technicians to join Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN. In this role, you will maintain and repair 200mm semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a cleanroom environment. Your work will ensure production tools operate reliably, directly supporting high-quality semiconductor output. This position is hands-on, highly technical, and essential to keeping our manufacturing operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete all required safety training and perform work in compliance with safety policies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on semiconductor production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and computer skills.
  • Document maintenance activities thoroughly, including PM checklists and procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve PM procedures and technical documentation.
  • Safely perform work in hazardous environments using proper PPE (including SCBA or respirator).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase equipment availability.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Team activities when required.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate's degree in electronics, mechatronics, automation, mechanical, or related field; equivalent military training; or 2+ years of experience in vacuum/semiconductor equipment maintenance.
  • Proficiency in electrical circuits, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs).
  • Strong PC skills and familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to properly use common hand tools and PPE.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and multitasking skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment such as Etch.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot root causes and improve processes.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts in a cleanroom environment, wearing full cleanroom attire. Employees must be able to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Perform fine motor tasks (using pliers, screwdrivers, meters, etc.) frequently throughout shifts.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
  • Safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Work with high voltage, chemicals, and hazardous gases while using PPE.
  • Maintain focus, accuracy, and clear communication during complex technical tasks.

Compensation: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials (good faith estimate)
