Position Summary

TechStream, LLC is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and scale the accounting function in a fast-paced start-up environment. This is a full-time opportunity ideal for a proactive and resourceful accounting professional who thrives in building processes, improving controls, and supporting a growing business.

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, cash management, and process improvements while partnering closely with leadership on strategic and operational initiatives. This individual must be comfortable operating both strategically and tactically in a lean organization where flexibility and ownership are critical to success.

This position offers the opportunity to help shape the finance infrastructure of a growing technology company and play a key role in supporting future growth and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a growing organization
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Research and apply current accounting pronouncements and technical accounting guidance as needed

Operational Finance

  • Oversee core accounting functions including:
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Treasury/Cash Management
    • Expense reporting
    • Payroll coordination
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Support leadership with financial analysis and operational insights
  • Assist with vendor management and banking relationships

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Assist with implementation, optimization, and maintenance of accounting and ERP systems
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve reporting capabilities
  • Help build scalable finance and accounting infrastructure to support company growth

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate external audits, tax support, and lender requests as applicable
  • Ensure supporting schedules and documentation are properly maintained
  • Support compliance with corporate governance and internal control requirements

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, leadership, and external advisors
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to future accounting staff as the company grows
  • Operate as a trusted business partner in a collaborative start-up environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience; 10+ years preferred
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a start-up, high-growth technology, or service-based environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems (such as Sage Intacct, or similar ERP systems) preferred
  • Exposure to international accounting operations is a plus
