Job description

Position Title: Controller
The Controller plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial reporting for senior leadership. The Controller will also lead initiatives aimed at operational improvements across various functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's success. This role requires strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Controller will work closely with various stakeholders, providing insights that drive strategic decisions. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a lean organization while positioning yourself for future advancement into a CFO role.
Salary Range: $90,000-$150,000+ / Year DOE
Controller Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations using QuickBooks
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare financial reports for ownership and senior leadership
  • Manage vendor relationships, invoice review, payment controls, and expense tracking
  • Reconcile legal services activity and related account-level charges
  • Assist with cash management, bank reconciliations, lender reporting, and borrowing base support
  • Work with banks and financing partners supporting the company's loan portfolio
  • Support audits, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and special finance projects
  • Help prepare reporting and infrastructure for potential securitization activities
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives across accounting, finance, servicing, and administrative functions
  • Develop, document, and standardize SOPs to improve consistency, scalability, and accountability
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements across accounting and operations
  • Reduce manual work and strengthen internal controls and reporting accuracy

Controller Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting, finance, controllership, banking, lending, or servicing experience
  • QuickBooks and strong Excel experience required
  • Experience in specialty finance, lending, banking, private credit, or loan servicing is preferred
