MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support team members and perform required communication equipment integration or installation of communication systems equipment, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and use of test equipment as required

  • Install, configure, integrate, troubleshoot, and manage HF, UHF, SATCOM, radio communications suites and associated network and cryptographic equipment deployed

  • Demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a cohesive team

  • Performance of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting or assessment of electronic equipment

  • Working alongside engineers to design, build and test solutions to a variety of technical problems

  • Analyzing operations and offering suggestions for improvement

  • Perform field validations of various watercraft and equipment

  • Perform work between customer sites, shore sites, and/or on ships

  • Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS as needed up to 50%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Communications experience

  • Experience with HF/VHF/UHF installation/troubleshooting

  • Experience with RF Connectors

  • Hands-on knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Optical analyzers, power meters, bench power supplies, multimeters, etc.

  • Must possess a current Sec+ Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ANY of the following radio systems: (KOR 24A, PRC 117 series, Vortex, ARC-231 a plus), SATCOM equipment, radio networks (HPW, Link-11, Link -16, BFT/FBCB2), cryptographic equipment, keying data transfer devices (DTD's), RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers), basic electronic principles, a firm knowledge of networking equipment, IP networking and sub-netting

  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence

  • Associate's degree in related field

  • NAVSEA Certified in Fiber Optic Termination

Clearance Requirements:

  • US citizenship required and an active Secret clearance

  • Must be eligible to obtain a CAC card

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 Lbs

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50%

  • Be able to ascend and descend ladders as required for installations

  • Must be able to position oneself to install communications systems, server racks, or potentially running transmission lines as required.


The projected compensation range for this position is $89,100.00-$148,200.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.  In addition, MANTECH invests in its employees beyond just compensation.  MANTECH's benefits offerings include, dependent upon position, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, short-term and long-term Disability, Retirement and Savings, Learning and Development opportunities, wellness programs as well as other optional benefit elections.
