Description:

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is seeking a creative, organized, and service-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the parish’s mission through clear, engaging, and timely communications.


The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating the parish’s print and digital communications, including the weekly bulletin, website, social media, email communications, promotional materials, and other parish publications. This position works closely with parish staff, ministry leaders, school and diocesan contacts, and community partners to share the life of the parish, promote ministries and events, and help parishioners stay informed and engaged.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with strong organizational skills, an eye for design, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative parish environment.


Essential Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing

· Develop and coordinate communications and promotional efforts that support parish ministries, programs, events, and activities.

· Serve as the primary editor and coordinator of the weekly parish bulletin, gathering information from parish staff, ministry leaders, school and diocesan contacts, and other appropriate sources.

· Write, edit, proofread, and format communications to ensure they are accurate, engaging, consistent, and appropriate for the intended audience.

· Create flyers, posters, brochures, signage, digital graphics, and other promotional materials for parish ministries and events.

· Partner with parish staff and ministry leaders to identify communications needs and opportunities to increase awareness and participation.

· Coordinate the preparation of materials and displays communicating parish news and events throughout the church, narthex, and Parish Life Center.

· Assist with the preparation and publication of the annual parish directory and other special publications.


Website, Email & Social Media

· Maintain the parish website, ensuring information is accurate, current, engaging, and easy to navigate.

· Prepare, schedule, and distribute parish communications through Flocknote.

· Create, schedule, and publish appropriate content for parish social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.

· Help maintain a consistent parish voice and visual identity across print and digital communications.

· Coordinate the livestreaming and posting of Masses and other parish events to parish or school digital channels, including YouTube, as requested.


Parish & Administrative Support

· Assist with facility scheduling and coordination for activities held on parish property.

· Provide backup support for the coordination of baptisms, weddings, and funerals as needed.

· Provide occasional front office coverage, including answering phones, welcoming parishioners and visitors, and assisting with Mass Intentions.

· Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding parishioners, employees, clergy, and sensitive information encountered through the parish office.

· Support special projects and other parish initiatives as assigned.

Requirements:

  · Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and able to support the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church.

· Excellent written, verbal, editing, and proofreading skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, ministry volunteers, parishioners, school personnel, and diocesan contacts.

· Experience with communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, social media, or a related area preferred.

· Strong visual and creative skills with experience developing attractive print and digital communications.

· Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills, with demonstrated attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting recurring and time-sensitive deadlines.

· Self-motivated and able to identify opportunities to effectively communicate the mission, ministries, and activities of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

· Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Indesign required. 

· Familiarity with graphic design, website content management, email communication, social media, and related digital tools. Experience with Apple/Mac platforms is helpful.

· Ability and willingness to learn new communications platforms and technology as needed.

· Some college coursework or a college degree in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.

· Bilingual English/Spanish skills required.
