Job description

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University invites applications for a limitedterm Faculty Member position in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences. This position reports to the Dean of Health Sciences, and is subject to budgetaryapproval, and would start on July 31, 2026, or as soon as it is filled.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to have proficiency in instructing undergraduates in both the laboratory and lecture components of one or more of the following disciplines required for MLT certification: clinical microbiology, clinical biochemistry, clinical hematology, transfusion science and histopathology. Applicants will be expected to have clinical laboratory experience. Experience with core lab and simulation will be an asset.
Applicants must hold a relevant undergraduatedegree and be certified through the CSMLS (or CAMLPR) as a Medical LaboratoryTechnologist, and have a proven record of professional work experience in the medical laboratory field. A Master's degree in a related field will be considered an asset. The applicant must also be registered (or eligible for registration) with the associated provincial regulatory body (e.g., CMLTO). The successful applicant will also be required to maintain membership with the CSMLS.
Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to  have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University's web-centric and mobile learning environment. Primary duties include preparing, delivering and grading all course material, assignments, quizzes and exams for as assigned. The Academic Associate will be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s).
The successful candidate will be appointed as an Academic Associate for one year. The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service and 10% Other workload each year.
