Job description

Turner’s Outdoorsman is seeking an Archery Tech Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with archery experience who enjoys helping customers, learning about products, and working in a fast-paced retail environment. The Archery Associate provides knowledgeable and friendly customer service while assisting customers with compound bows, traditional bows, archery accessories, and other outdoor sporting goods. This position also supports the overall operation of the store and works closely with Store Management and other team members to achieve sales goals and provide an excellent customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a team player who demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, and enthusiasm for archery and the outdoor sporting industry.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
  • Assist customers with compound bows, traditional bows, archery accessories, and related products.
  • Understand the differences between compound and traditional bows and their accessories.
  • Learn Turner’s archery product selection and effectively explain product features, benefits, and differences between brands.
  • Develop the technical knowledge necessary to work on compound and traditional bows in accordance with Turner’s standards.
  • Create customer orders and assist customers throughout the sales process.
  • Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate strong salesmanship.
  • Maintain awareness of firearm and general store safety requirements.
  • Complete required firearms paperwork accurately and within all applicable legal requirements.
  • Assist with merchandising, stocking, and store presentation.
  • Receive stock and merchandise.
  • Participate in store promotions, sales events, and other activities.
  • May assist customers with fishing reels using specialized equipment and knot-tying techniques.
  • May participate in inventory counts and other inventory-related duties.
  • Attend required training seminars, including occasional off-site training.
  • Assist customers with hunting accessories and other outdoor sporting goods as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous archery experience required.
  • Knowledge of compound and traditional bows, archery equipment, and accessories.
  • Interest in continuing to develop archery technical and product knowledge.
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college or college degree preferred.
  • Prior retail, sales, or cash-handling experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hunting, fishing, shooting sports, or other outdoor sporting activities preferred.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in a firearms retail environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Certificate of Eligibility required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to load and unload merchandise and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to safely use both hands when handling firearms, bows, and related equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer and learn new software programs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, and lift throughout a scheduled shift.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel may be required (approximately 5% of the time-participating in events, training seminars etc.)

HOURS

  • Hours-varied-OT may be required
  • Requests for time off may or may not be granted during black-out periods
