Are you passionate about enabling scientific discovery through advanced laboratory automation and liquid handling technologies? Join our team as a Sales Engineer, Liquid Handling, where you will play a critical role in driving growth across the Midwest territory.

In this role, you will be responsible for selling Tecan’s liquid handling portfolio — including capital equipment, reagents, consumables, and service contracts — while partnering closely with customers in life sciences, biotech, academic, and government research environments. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping customers translate complex application needs into innovative automation solutions.

How Will You Make an Impact?

• Manage the full sales cycle including prospecting, lead generation, qualification, demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, closing, installation coordination, and post-sale support
• Achieve or exceed assigned sales, growth, and financial targets for the Midwest territory
• Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow new and existing business
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor, translating customer workflows into tailored liquid handling solutions
• Conduct product demonstrations and workflow-based presentations for scientific and procurement stakeholders
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, including researchers, lab managers, and procurement teams
• Maintain accurate forecasting and CRM data to support business planning
• Support installations, training, and ongoing customer adoption of Tecan solutions
• Partner with Service, Applications, and Technical Support teams to ensure customer satisfaction
• Participate in regional and national trade shows, conferences, and customer events
• Identify and communicate market trends, competitive activity, and new application opportunities
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer issues and ensure long-term account success
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, company, and safety requirements
• Travel within the assigned territory as required, up to 50% overnight travel, including short-notice travel when necessary

What You Bring

• Strong ability to manage and grow a technical sales territory in a capital equipment environment
• Deep understanding of consultative and solution-based selling approaches
• Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical and non-technical concepts clearly
• Strong presentation and customer-facing skills with scientific and procurement audiences
• Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a remote, field-based role
• High level of adaptability, initiative, and problem-solving ability
• Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field required
• 3+ years of sales experience in capital equipment within the life sciences industry
• Experience with liquid handling systems, laboratory automation, or microplate instrumentation strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success in territory management and technical sales environments
• Strong proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly

Nice to Have

• Experience in laboratory automation or high-throughput screening environments
• Familiarity with academic, biotech, or government research markets
• Experience supporting product demonstrations and on-site customer training
• Background working with procurement and institutional purchasing processes
• Experience with trade shows, scientific conferences, or field marketing support
• Strong analytical or data-driven sales forecasting skills
