A substitute teacher is expected to provide planned instruction to students as outlined by a licensed teacher or administrator. A wide variety of tasks are performed to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment for all students. A substitute teacher must be very flexible and have strong skills in using superior judgment when making decision. He/she must have superior verbal and written communication skills. The school principal and/or his/her designee will monitor the work performed by the substitute teacher. Teachers will provide feedback to administration on the work performed by a substitute teacher when a class is covered.

โ€ข Provides group and individualized instructions as prescribed using a variety of instructional activities
โ€ข Monitors student interaction while keeping students on task
โ€ข Provides positive feedback and reinforces student achievement
โ€ข Maintains classroom arrangement and ensures that all materials and equipment in classroom are used appropriately
โ€ข Completes all necessary records accurately such as attendance, grades, inventories, etc.
โ€ข Monitors student behavior while encouraging appropriate social skills and respect for others
โ€ข Addresses and reconciles minor student conflicts and requests assistance from administration when support is needed in this area
